Hello! So it's about time to start really gearing up for the fundraiser this year. Unless I hear otherwise, this year's charity is going to be the same as last year's - Autism Speaks. For those of you who haven't donated before, this is the basic rundown. Go to AutismSpeaks.org and make whatever donation you can afford to make. I suggest you start saving now, say a couple of dollars or more a week, then make a donation closer to the deadline (which is a week before Mary's birthday). This year there is a new cool edition to the fundraiser because Mary was generous and sweet enough to sign an 8x10 photo for one lucky donor. If you donate any amount, your name goes in the drawing for the photo. I'll post a pic of it soon so you can be tempted even more to make a donation.

Hi everyone!! I wanted to let you know that we are going to have a birthday fundraiser again this year in honor of Mary. Thanks to her decision to attend the Wizard World Convention in New Orleans this past weekend and my luck to live in driving distance of there, I was able to ask about her thoughts on this year's effort. The details are still being sorted, but there will be one, so if you want to contribute start your saving pile now. Also, please help me in spreading the word to other Mary fans who may not frequent livejournal. All the fundraising information on this site is view-able to non-lj users so let them know that they don't have to form an account to get info about our efforts.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know that we have passed this year's $1000 goal for Autism Speaks! If you haven't donated yet, you still can. The donation drive is open until May this year.

The total there doesn't show we've passed our goal because a couple of donations came in prior to the page being made and also because the wonderful redrockcan was also raising money for Autism Speaks and generously agreed to share her total with our efforts. I'll give a final tally after May 1.

First of all, let me apologize because this post is very, very late. Real life has been unbelievably crazy busy the last several weeks and I haven't had much time to spend online. My online time will be limited for at least another week and then things should calm down for a month or so.

ANYWAY. Real purpose of this post - details for Mary's birthday scrapbook! I'll be following the same guidelines as previous years, all of which can be found beneath the cut below.

Last year's theme of finding friendships because of Mary and her work was absolutely amazing and it's not been an easy task to try to find something different for this year's book. I spoke to averita about some ideas and am finally getting a chance to organize them.

In addition to friendships made because of Mary, I think it's safe to say that we have all been inspired or touched by her and her work in some way. Otherwise, we wouldn't be fans. So for this year's book, I'd like to ask folks to send in messages/artwork/letters, etc. about how Mary and/or any of the characters she has portrayed has inspired you. Have you thought about going into theatre because of her? Found politics a bit more fascinating because of Laura Roslin? Started researching Asperger's Syndrome because of Dr. Dixon or the history of the Sioux because of Stands With a Fist? Or has she simply inspired you to try to be a better person?

While those types of submissions will be the main theme of the book, please don't let that dissuade you from sending in anything else. You're not limited to sticking to the theme. If you didn't have a chance to participate in last year's book and want to let Mary know about some of the enduring friendships you've made because of her, please send something in. If you just want to wish her a happy birthday, please send something in. Again, there's NO LIMIT on what you send.

This year's book will be decorated in a celestial theme with starscapes being the primary focus. You're not limited to sticking to this theme if you want to send in your own decorated scrapbook page. It can be whatever you want it to be.
